Hot Shot Basketball Contest

There will not be a Hot Shot Basketball Contest in 2019 since we will have REC Way Basketball League games on Saturdays in January. We encourage you to sign up for this league if your kids are interested in playing basketball.

Paducah Parks & Recreation is presenting the first ever Hot Shot Basketball Contest on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at the Paducah Recreation Center located at 1527 HC Mathis Drive in Paducah. Boys and girls ages 9-14 who play basketball are invited to play in this fun FREE contest where participants will have three one-minute time periods to shoot from five different marks on the court. Scores will be totaled from each of the three time periods. Awards will be given out for 1st and 2nd place in these age groups: Boys 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and Girls 9-10, 11-12, 13-14. The Boys will start at noon with Girls following at 1:30 p.m. Participants must register at the Paducah Recreation Center 15 minutes before their start time. Basketballs will be provided. There is no charge to participate.

Contest Rules

All participants will shoot at 10 foot baskets and use a 28.5'' basketball. The player may start at any of the designated positions on the court. Scores based on three, one-minute periods from specified spots on the court. You will be divided into groups and everyone will take a turn before you each get your second or third one-minute period. Each spot is worth 1-5 points when you make a basket. A player will be given 5 bonus points for taking a shot from each position on the court. You can receive this bonus during all three rounds. Shooters may only count two lay-ups towards their final scores. Each shooter will be responsible for rebounding their own shots. Total score from all three periods will be counted to determine the place winners. A scorekeeper will record the score and keep track of the time. In the event of a tie, each participant will have one minute to shoot again with the highest score winning the tiebreaker.
