Police Chief Brandon Barnhill Announces Retirement

Date of release:  October 31, 2018

Police Chief Brandon BarnhillStatement from Chief Barnhill

It is with both great excitement and fond sadness that I announce my formal retirement from the position of Police Chief for the Paducah Police Department. During these years of service to you, I have had the honor to serve a community filled with caring and genuine people. Paducah in so many ways defines the very meaning of community, a place where neighbors and friends care for one another.

The Paducah Police Department’s position as a professional and progressive agency is only possible through the efforts of many. I owe many thanks to the Mayors, Commissioners, City Managers, fellow employees, and have made many lasting friendships through the years. Additionally, I owe a huge debt of gratitude to the finest law enforcement officers, dispatchers and staff any city could ask for. Last but most importantly, I owe a huge thank you to my family for the continued support and patience allowing me to serve in this capacity!

This department is well established and moving forward. I can't say enough about how everyone has worked together to make everything we have done a success. This was a very difficult decision to make, although it was eased by knowing what capable hands I am leaving the department in. While I look forward to the next chapter and what new adventures await me, I’m leaving this position with a sense of pride and accomplishment of more than 23 years in public service.

This community should know that I leave you with well-trained staff who can lead this department to the next level, and a command staff that is prepared to make the critical decisions that best serve this community and department.
