Paducah Main Street, a division of the Paducah Planning Department, is partnering with the Murray State Small Business Development Center and Paducah Economic Development to hold a free workshop to help artists develop business plans and learn how to market their work. Boot Camp for Artists will be 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Friday, November 3 at the Murray State University Paducah Regional Campus located at 4430 Sunset Avenue in Paducah.
Downtown Development Specialist-Paducah Main Street Director Melinda Winchester says, “This free workshop is a direct result of the engagement by the Paducah Main Street Economic Vitality Committee in surveying downtown and Lower Town businesses and artists. The Committee determined that a common theme from the artists is a need for more information about turning their creative craft into a viable business. During this workshop, artists will learn the steps in creating a business plan, how to price their artwork and determine their target audience, and how to develop an online marketing platform that includes social media and a website.”
Guest speakers will be Fran Redmon who retired as the director of the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program and Vallorie Henderson, management consultant with the Louisville Small Business Development Center. Henderson also is a working visual artist.
Boot Camp for Artists is funded in part through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
To sign up for the workshop, contact Melinda Winchester at 270-444-8690 or firstname.lastname@example.org or Chris Wooldridge with the Murray State University Small Business Development Center at (270) 809-2856. Registration also is available online at https://kysbdc.ecenterdirect.com/events/8600.
