The first ever Fill the Fire Truck event organized by the Paducah Fire Department was a huge success with a total of 1200 pounds of school supplies and cash donations collected. The school supplies have been sorted and donated to the Paducah Independent School District.
The Fill the Fire Truck with School Supplies campaign involved the donation of school supplies through August 10 at each of the five City of Paducah Fire Stations and at the Fire Prevention Division office on the first floor of City Hall. Plus, Friday, August 3 was a special Fill the Fire Truck donation day. On that day, Paducah firefighters collected school supply donations at the Southside and West End Walmart locations.
Deputy Fire Marshal April Tinsman coordined Fill the Fire Truck. Tinsman said, “Through my service with the Paducah Fire Department, I look for ways the Department can give back to Paducah’s citizens. My position puts me in front of many different types of situations which allows me to help identify areas of need in the community. Little things such as school supplies can greatly impact the success of our local students.”
