Theft of SNAP Card

food stamp theft suspectPaducah police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a woman suspected of using a stolen Illinois SNAP card (formerly food stamps).

An Illinois resident told Officer Matt Scheer on Nov. 15 that his wallet, containing his SNAP card, had been stolen from his home in Joppa earlier in the month. The man showed Scheer evidence that the card was used at two Paducah businesses on Nov. 7 and Nov. 14.

Scheer was able to obtain a surveillance photograph of a woman who used the card at one of the businesses.

Anyone with information about the identity of the woman, or of the man with her in the photograph, is asked to call the Paducah Police Department at 270-444-8550 or Crime Stoppers at 270-443-TELL. Tipsters also may access the Online Tip Form. Information leading to an arrest or indictment may result in a reward of up to $1,000.
