Paducah Parks and Recreation will accept stories for our Halloween Short Story Contest through 5 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017. The Halloween Short Story Contest is for students in 3rd through 8th grades.

Students are asked to write a story about Halloween using the beginning phase, “The old, red barn..." Typed stories are preferred and can have no more than 500 words for 3rd-4th graders, 600 words for 5th-6th graders and 700 words for 7th-8th graders.   Only one entry is allowed per student.

Include student's name, school, grade, teacher, and contact phone on the back of the story. Stories that do not meet the minimum requirements will be disqualified from the selection process.
