Paducah Main Street, a division of the City of Paducah Planning Department, is organizing the third annual Showcase Paducah. The event will be from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 23.
Showcase Paducah is an opportunity to tour commercial and residential properties that are for sale or for lease in downtown and Lower Town. The open house format allows anyone to tour the properties and ask questions of the real estate agent or property representative. At this time, 13 properties will be open to the public to tour at no charge. The properties are located at 111, 115, and 117 Market House Square, 311, 314, 405, 500, and 620 Broadway, 420 North 5th Street, 625 North 6th Street, 524 North 7th Street, 525 North 8th Street, and 223 North 9th Street.
Downtown Development Specialist-Main Street Director Melinda Winchester says, “We have been very pleased with the response and results to this event over the last couple of years. We have so many success stories, and the energy keeps growing.”
Last year’s event led to the sale of six downtown properties and three Lower Town properties. The 2014 Showcase Paducah resulted in the sale of four properties.
Winchester adds, “Showcase Paducah offers opportunities for the public to engage with downtown and Lower Town by not only showcasing the available properties but also highlighting the distinctive, vibrant atmosphere and historic character our downtown offers to visitors, customers, and investors.”
Stop by the booth next to the downtown gazebo at 2nd and Broadway for information about financial incentives and historic tax credits. An event booklet containing individual property details including maps and contact information will be available. Representatives from the Murray State University Small Business Development Center and EntrePaducah will be available to assist anyone in opening a business, business growth, or other entrepreneurial strategies.
Winchester says, “If you are considering investing in a property or a business, the environment in which that investment exists can directly affect your outcome. The local incentives offered by the City of Paducah along with historic tax credits make our historic districts attractive areas to consider.”
While touring Paducah’s real estate opportunities, make sure to visit an up-and-coming business that is in the construction process. Highwater Fresh Bar & Citizens Gym is coming to 224-226 Broadway. The business owners also will be able to provide a preview of the upper story apartments that will be coming to that location.
In addition to Showcase Paducah, which focuses on available properties, many existing businesses are celebrating the day with special events. Plus, several new businesses have opened in the area. Those businesses include Square Furniture Collection, Must Stitch Emporium, Art Guild of Paducah, The 1857 Boutique Hotel, Silent Brigade Distillery, and The Baby Grand. The Paducah Bank Wow Wagon will be providing ice cream. Folks can also tour the inside of the Dome Pavilion.
Paducah Main Street thanks the following partners for Showcase Paducah: Paducah Board of Realtors, the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce, and Paducah Economic Development.
