The Paducah Police Department consists of 79 sworn police officers who patrol 20.5 square miles. We proudly serve approximately 26,000 residents and 100,000 visitors daily.
The Department is composed of three divisions to better serve the community. The Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for investigating major crimes. The Drug And Vice Enforcement Unit (D.A.V.E.), a unit within the Criminal Investigations Division, investigates drug activity in the Paducah area. Community Oriented Policing or C.O.P. principles are used to work with the community on complex law enforcement issues. The principles look for non-traditional methods that may be more effective toward solving on-going problems in our city. C.O.P. is also responsible for providing added protection and special services during major community activities such as the National Quilters Convention, Summer Festival, and other special events. The Patrol Division is the most visible divison and the backbone of the Department. The Patrol Division is responsible for enforcing all criminal and traffic laws. Patrol Officers are first responders to calls for service. They prepare preliminary reports on all crimes, investigate motor vehicle crashes, and provide many other basic police services to the community.
