Ribbon Cutting on September 1 for Noble Park Pickleball Courts

Date of Release:
August 25, 2023

The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Noble Park Pickleball Courts on Friday, September 1 at 9:30 a.m. This eight-court pickleball facility is located across from the tennis courts on the east side of the park’s inner roadway

Mayor George Bray said, “Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States and early in my term as Mayor, it became apparent that providing courts to address the increasing number of people playing the sport in Paducah was a real opportunity for the city to add an additional amenity. We always work hard to produce a balanced budget while continuing to provide a wide array of services, programs, and facilities. Adding these eight pickleball courts to Noble Park demonstrates our flexibility in providing additional amenities and that we are committed to health, fitness, quality of life, and meeting the needs of residents.”

Immediately after the ribbon cutting ceremony, the Parks & Recreation Department is holding a Draw Your Partner Doubles event for players of all ability levels. Doubles teams will be randomly drawn for three rounds of pickleball play. There is no charge to play.

Director of Parks & Recreation Amie Clark said, “I encourage everyone to attend the pickleball ribbon cutting and stay to either play pickleball or be a spectator. Pickleball is a fast-paced sport that is fun to watch and play for all ages. I’m proud that we have been able to add these quality facilities to Noble Park.”

Earlier this year, the City approved a contract with PCC Sports to construct the courts with amenities including fencing, lighting, shade structures, benches, and sidewalks.
