Date of release: November 29, 2016
The City of Paducah 2016 Christmas cards are available for purchase at City Hall.
The Christmas cards are $7.00 for a package of ten. The cards can be purchased, while supplies last, at the Finance Department on the first floor of City Hall at 300 South 5th Street between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The price of the cards covers the printing charges. The City does not profit from the sale of the Christmas cards.
About a year ago, the Paducah Area Painters Alliance (PAPA) selected the Paducah Dog Park in Stuart Nelson Park as the theme and asked artists to submit their entries. Six works of art were submitted to be voted on by the Paducah Board of Commissioners.
“A Gift for Santa”, an oil on canvas by Brenda Foster, was selected as this year’s City of Paducah Christmas card. The painting shows Santa at the Paducah Dog Park on a starry night. While a deer watches, Santa is reaching out to pet a puppy that is sitting in a Christmas box. The inside of the card reads “Wishing you all the joys of this Christmas season and a prosperous new year.”
Foster is a retired high school algebra teacher who also loves art. She taught 31 years in Crittenden County, Kentucky. Foster says, “Now as a retiree, I try to capture a little of the beauty around us on a canvas. I am married with three wonderful sons and three amazing grandchildren who tend to open my eyes to things in a unique and exciting way.”
A few packages of City of Paducah Christmas cards from previous years still are available for purchase at a reduced price at City Hall.
