Crews from all five Paducah fire stations responded this morning to a house fire at 1416 Walter Jetton Boulevard. The call was issued at 3:04 a.m. The occupants of the house, two adults and five children, were able to exit the house uninjured.
Deputy Fire Marshal April Tinsman says, “The family told me that the smoke detector woke them up allowing them to safely get out of the house. This is an example of how a working smoke detector can save lives.”
The home suffered heavy smoke and fire damage. A light switch in the living room has been linked to the cause of this electrical fire. The neighboring homes were not affected by the early morning fire.
The Western Kentucky Chapter of the American Red Cross is assisting the family.
