Police Chief Barnhill's Statement Following Death of Former Chief Robert Holt

Chief Robert HoltOn behalf of the Paducah Police Department, myself, and area law enforcement, we are sad to hear of the passing of Chief Robert B. Holt.

Chief Holt retired from the Paducah Police Department in 1980 after 34 years of service. Chief Holt was instrumental in establishing the Jackson Purchase Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #15 in 1953. Additionally, Chief Holt was instrumental in forming the Kentucky Law Enforcement Council, serving three terms as Chairman of Council and as a Trustee until his retirement. He was a principal part of the subsidy that allows extra pay to officers who receive training located at Eastern Kentucky University.

In 1977, Chief Holt received the Melvin Shien Award as the outstanding Law Enforcement Official in Kentucky.

Chief Holt worked for over three decades in one of the noblest professions in the world and for that we are thankful to him and his family! Our prayers and support are with the Holt family.
