Paducah Parks Services and the Paducah Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution are holding the second annual I Heart Presidents Day on Saturday, February 11. The free event that celebrates Presidents Day will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Robert Cherry Civic Center. Kids and families can attend at any time during that three hour time period. There will be free snacks and gift bags while supplies last.
Recreation Specialist Taylor Morsching says, “The Parks Department and the local Daughters of the American Revolution chapter have been great partners for events such as the Veterans Day Essay Contest. Creating the I Heart Presidents Day event was a natural extension of our partnership. Together, we are able to coordinate fun activities for families that also provide educational components about American history.”
Kids of all ages will have the opportunity to make crafts and learn about different presidents and early American culture. Specific activities include writing a letter to the President, making an Abe Lincoln log cabin and top hat, crafting a tricorn or mob cap, taking a presidential portrait in costume, and writing with a quill.
Presidents Day, also called Washington’s Birthday, is celebrated the third Monday of February.
