Driver: Identification pending notification of next of kin
The Paducah Police Department is investigating a single vehicle fatal collision that occurred at the intersection of Cairo Road and I-24 Exit 3 off-ramp.
Preliminary investigations show that the driver of a semi-truck and trailer was traveling eastbound on Interstate 24 and exited off the interstate at Exit 3. The vehicle traveled down the off-ramp, across Cairo Road, striking an earthen embankment on Cairo Road.
The semi-truck then caught on fire and was fully engulfed when officers arrived on scene. Witnesses stated they did not see the driver get out of the truck. No further details are being released at this time pending the identification of the driver and notification of next of kin.
The Paducah Fire Department and Concord Fire Department responded to the fire and the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and DES assisted at the scene. Cairo Road and I-24 east bound exit ramp were closed for several hours as members of the Paducah Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team reconstructed the collision.
