The Paducah Police Department will host its third annual Community Resource Expo and Drug Take Back Day at Ninth Street Church of Christ (715 S. 9th Street, Paducah,
KY) on Saturday, October 25, 2025, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
This event is designed to connect residents with local agencies and organizations that provide valuable services in our community, while also providing an opportunity for safe disposal of unused or expired medications.
Take Back Day is held in partnership with McCracken County ASAP (Agency for Substance Abuse Policy), Mercy Health, Turning Point Recovery Community Center, Purchase District Health Department, and Four Rivers Regional Prevention Center. Additional Community Resource Expo vendors will include Baptist Health, Child Watch, Horizon Homecare, McCracken County Cooperative Extension, WC Young Community Center, and West Kentucky Allied Services.
DEA Drug Take Back Day is a nationwide initiative to help prevent prescription drug misuse and theft by offering the public a safe and convenient way to dispose of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription medications. The community is encouraged to bring pills and patches for safe disposal. Liquids, needles or sharps cannot be accepted. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Medicines that remain in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion and misuse. Rates of prescription drug misuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high, as are the number of accidental poisonings and overdoses due to these drugs.
“This is a perfect opportunity for residents to get rid of their unwanted medications,” said Chief Brian Laird. “Many families have left-over prescription drugs, or a loved one has died and the family is left with their medications to dispose of. The drug take-back day gives them a chance to do so in a safe manner.”
