Currently, the Department’s maintenance division is housed in the building at 1400 H.C. Mathis Drive. In 2024, the Parks and Recreation Department moved its administrative function to the back of the renovated Robert Cherry Civic Center and the recreation team to the Paducah Recreation Center. The plan is for a new maintenance building to be constructed to house the 18-member maintenance team and equipment. This building could potentially be located in Noble Park.

Robert Coleman Park Restroom Facility

The Paducah Board of Commissioners approved a municipal order authorizing the City Manager to release a request for proposals for the construction of a new restroom facility at Robert Coleman Park which would replace the existing structure. The goal is to have a new restroom facility in place by the end of the year.

School Resource Officer Agreement with Paducah Public Schools

The Paducah Board of Commissioners approved a municipal order authorizing the school resource officer agreement with Paducah Public Schools. In 2021, the Paducah Police Department and Paducah Public Schools entered into a partnership for school resource officers. That agreement was funded partially by a COPS grant which has expired, and the current agreement between the City of Paducah and Paducah Public Schools expires at the end of this month. This new one-year agreement, which has been approved by the School Board, outlines cost sharing for the continued partnership with the school district reimbursing the City 70% of the cost for each police officer. The City provides two certified officers who serve as school resource officers at Paducah Tilghman High School and Paducah Middle School. These officers work to provide students and teachers a safe and secure learning environment, provide safety training for students and faculty, assist with security at special events, promote positive relationships, and more.
