City of Paducah Service Changes for Juneteenth Holiday

In observance of the Juneteenth holiday on Friday, June 19, several City of Paducah services will have modified schedules. 

  • Garbage Collection | There will be NO residential garbage or curbside recycling collection on Friday, June 19. Friday’s routes will be collected early next week and no later than Tuesday, June 23.
  • Compost Facility | The City of Paducah Compost Facility,1560 North 8th Street, will be closed to the public on Friday, June 19.
  • City Hall | City Hall, 300 South 5th Street, and other city offices will be closed on Friday, June 19.
  • Pool | The Noble Park Pool will be OPEN on June 19 from noon to 6 p.m.

 

Community Events

5th Annual FreedomFest: Paducah Juneteenth Celebration

The City of Paducah is proud to sponsor the 5th Annual FreedomFest: Paducah Juneteenth Celebration. The event will be Friday, June 19 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on the lawn of the National Quilt Museum, 215 Jefferson Street. The community is invited to enjoy live music, guest performances, and food and merchandise vendors.  The event is hosted by the Paducah-McCracken County NAACP in partnership with the Community Growth Legacy Foundation.

 

4th Annual African American Artist Showcase & Reception

The Paducah Historical Preservation Group (PHPG) invites the community to the 4th Annual African American Artist Showcase at Paducah City Hall, 300 South 5th Street. The exhibit features local and regional artists including featured artist and Paducah native, Dale McReynolds. Artwork may be viewed through Thursday, June 18 during regular City Hall business hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The PHPG will host an Artists Reception on Saturday, June 20, from noon to 2 p.m. at City Hall. Afrocentric attire is encouraged. This free event will include networking opportunities, a living history exhibit, music, and performances by BLOOM entertainment.

 

5th Annual Alpha Cares Community Health and Wellness Fair

The 5th Annual Alpha Cares Community Health and Wellness Fair, hosted by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. in partnership with Mercy Health, Baptist Health, and the Purchase Area Health Education Center, will be held Friday, June 19, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Washington Street Baptist Church, 721 Washington Street. This FREE event is open to the public and offers valuable health resources, featured speakers, screenings, education, and community engagement opportunities. A free lunch will be provided while supplies last. No pre-registration is required.
