Community Invited to Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on September 4 to Celebrate New Kolb Park Playground

Date of Release:
August 20, 2026

The community is invited to celebrate the installation of a new playground at Kolb Park with an official ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, September 4 at 2 p.m. Kolb Park is located at 1650 South 6th Street in the Kolb Park Neighborhood of Paducah’s Southside.

In late July, Paducah Parks & Recreation launched a project to replace the playground at Kolb Park. The previous playground, installed in 2005, was due for an upgrade. Miracle Recreation, the project contractor, is installing the new playground equipment along with a certified wood safety surface. This project will improve the playground’s accessibility, safety, and recreational experience.

The new playground currently is under construction and will be completed before the ribbon cutting ceremony. Kolb Park remains open to the public; however, visitors are asked to use caution around work crews and equipment.

Designed for children ages 2 to 12, the new playground features two large play structures with vibrant colors, a playground spinner that accommodates up to ten children, a climbing arch, slides, and swings. The swing area includes toddler seats with safety belts as well as inclusive seats with higher backs for added support.

Approximately two acres in size, Kolb Park is a well-used neighborhood park featuring a restroom facility, an open field for recreational activities, a pavilion, and one of the City’s larger playground spaces.

The City of Paducah is funding the playground replacement project through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.
