map showing location of new stop signsThe City of Paducah is enhancing traffic safety by converting the intersection of Jackson Street, South 19th Street, and Guthrie Avenue into an all-way stop. The new stop signs have been installed and are currently covered. Beginning Monday, January 26, the covers will be removed, and the intersection will officially operate as an all-way stop.

Currently, only Jackson Street traffic is required to stop, while vehicles traveling along South 19th Street and Guthrie Avenue move freely through the intersection.

The Engineering Department initiated this change as a proactive safety improvement. Recent street rehabilitation projects have added new sidewalks throughout the neighborhood, which is located near Paducah Tilghman High School. These enhancements have increased pedestrian activity, making the intersection conversion an important step toward improving both vehicle and pedestrian safety.

The all-way stop configuration will help regulate traffic flow, reduce potential conflicts, and create a safer environment for all roadway users.

The City of Paducah maintains more than 220 miles of streets.
