At the recent Energy Communities Alliance National Cleanup Workshop, the nonprofit organization’s board members elected the new ECA Executive Board for the 2026-2027 term. The board voted Mayor Pro Tem Sandra Wilson to serve on the five-member Executive Board as Member-At-Large. The incoming board members will serve a two-year term beginning January 1, 2026.
“We are excited to have Mayor Pro Tem Wilson join the ECA Executive Board,” said ECA Chair West Richland, Wash., Mayor Brent Gerry. “Her leadership and insights from attracting new nuclear businesses to the Paducah region and her experience running the Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce will be valuable to our members.”
ECA is a nonprofit membership organization of local governments and communities that host, are adjacent to, or impacted by nuclear facilities and U.S. Department of Energy activities. ECA brings together these local government officials to share information, establish policy positions, and promote community interests to address an increasingly complex set of constituent, environmental, regulatory, and economic development needs.
ECA Executive Director Seth Kirshenberg said, “Mayor Pro Tem Wilson’s experience and leadership are critical for our Executive Board. She brings experience from leading a community that has been in the nuclear industry for a long time, is attracting new opportunities to take advantage of the trained workforce, and is supporting new nuclear supply chain companies.”
“I’m honored to have been elected to ECA’s Executive Board and representing the city of Paducah,” said Mayor Pro Tem Sandra Wilson. “I have had the privilege of representing our community at ECA meetings for the past several years and appreciate the confidence of the members to elect me to this position. Through the networking and educational components that I gain through my involvement with ECA, I’m working to make sure that the future of the Department of Energy Paducah site and others across the nation are even brighter."
“As we all know, Paducah has a long history in the nuclear industry,” added Mayor George Bray. “The representation of our community as nuclear energy emerges as a staple in the growing energy needs of the United States is critical to Paducah and McCracken County. Mayor Pro Tem Sandra Wilson, who also leads our award-winning Chamber of Commerce, understands well the forces that will shape future redevelopment of the Department of Energy Paducah site. I’m confident that Sandra’s broad experience and role on the ECA Executive Board will be a tremendous asset to our community through her collaborative work with the federal government, other communities, and stakeholders.”
