City of Paducah property owners will begin receiving real estate bills by mail later this month. Bills also are available to be viewed and paid through the City’s online option.
On October 2, the Paducah Board of Commissioners set the City’s real estate and personal property tax rates for the current fiscal year. The City’s real estate tax levy is $0.253 per $100 of assessed value (AV), a decrease from last year and the lowest rate since 2013. Property tax payments are due November 30, 2026, to avoid penalties and interest.
This year, property owners who live within the Paducah city limits and the Paducah Independent School District will receive two real estate property tax bills since the school district has not finalized its real estate tax rate. Kentucky law (KRS 132.017) instructs the City to proceed with billing when an included taxing district has a rate that is subject to recall, and that recall period has not expired.
The first bill, which is in the process of being printed and mailed, will include taxes for the City of Paducah and Paducah Junior College, in addition to the E911 fee.
The second bill will cover only the Paducah Independent School District’s real estate property taxes. The City does not set the school district’s tax rate but serves as the school district’s property tax collecting agent. The second billing for the school levy does not apply to personal property taxes, which are being billed and mailed as usual.
Once the Paducah Independent School District’s recall period has expired, the City plans to configure and process its billing software and mail the second bills as soon as possible.
Property owners who live within the Paducah city limits and the McCracken County School District will receive only one bill.
