The City of Paducah is reminding residents about two sections of the Paducah Code of Ordinances designed to help keep our community safe.
Parking Direction
When parking on a street, make sure your vehicle is facing the same direction as traffic on your side of the road.
Parking the wrong way may seem harmless, but it can create safety hazards for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Vehicles parked facing oncoming traffic can increase the risk of crashes when entering or leaving a parking space.
Parking in the wrong direction also violates Paducah Code of Ordinances 110-183 and may result in a $25 parking ticket.
Help keep our streets safe by always parking with the flow of traffic.
Fireworks
As Independence Day approaches, please remember that fireworks that leave the ground, explode, or create a loud report are NOT permitted within Paducah city limits under Paducah Code of Ordinances Chapter 46, Article IV.
Paducah allows the sale of fireworks under specific requirements. Those interested in selling fireworks in Paducah need to contact the Fire Prevention Division at 270-444-8522 for information about obtaining the necessary permits.
Kentucky’s fireworks laws were updated in 2011 and state that fireworks are not to be used within 200 feet of any structure, motor vehicles, or other person. Due to the density of homes and buildings in Paducah and to comply with State law, the City prohibits the use of fireworks within city limits to help protect residents and property.
Individuals found discharging prohibited fireworks may receive a citation. Additionally, it is illegal for minors to possess fireworks.
Thank you for helping keep our community safe this holiday season. As a reminder, Paducah’s Independence Day Celebration is Saturday, July 4 in historic downtown Paducah and will include a professional fireworks show on the riverfront beginning at 9:15 p.m.
