2025-2026 Garbage and Curbside Recycling Collection Schedule for Holidays

City Hall and city offices will be closed on the following dates: December 24, 25, and 31, and January 1, 2026. The holiday closures will result in several schedule adjustments for the Public Works Department. Residents are reminded to place garbage rollout containers at their designated collection points no later than 4 a.m. on the scheduled pickup day. If collection crews experience delays, please leave your rollouts at the collection point until they have been serviced. For questions, contact the Public Works Department at 270-444-8511.

Christmas Holidays

  • No residential garbage or curbside recycling collection on Wednesday, December 24 and Thursday, December 25.
  • Wednesday routes will be collected Friday, December 26.
  • Thursday routes will be collected Saturday, December 27.
  • Friday routes will be collected Monday, December 29.

New Year’s Holidays

  • No residential garbage or curbside recycling collection on Wednesday, December 31 and Thursday, January 1.
  • Wednesday routes will be collected Friday, January 2.
  • Thursday routes will be collected Saturday, January 3.
  • Friday routes will be collected Monday, January 5.

Compost Facility

The Compost Facility, located at 1560 North 8th Street, will be closed to the public on December 24, 25, and 31, and January 1.

Live Christmas Tree Recycling

Residents wishing to dispose of live Christmas trees may request pickup by City crews by calling the Public Works Department. Trees should be placed at the normal garbage collection location with all lights, garland, and ornaments removed. Trees may also be dropped off at the Compost Facility during regular operating hours.
