Invitation to Serve on Paducah Transit Authority Board

Date of Release:
February 08, 2024

Paducah Mayor George Bray is inviting interested citizens to apply to serve on the Paducah Transit Authority board. This eight-member board controls, manages, and conducts the business activities of the local transit system.

Mayor George Bray said, “Paducah is fortunate to have the Paducah Area Transit System (PATS). Mass transit provides more than fixed bus routes. Those fixes routes are extremely important for citizens and visitors needing to get to work or a place of business. However, PATS also provides numerous other transportation services including non-emergency medical transportation, airport service from Barkley Regional Airport to local hotels and motels, and ADA services. Having a diverse board of directors who understand the needs of the community and the challenges of providing a transportation service is more important than ever.”

In December 2023, Arthur Boykin retired as executive director after serving PATS for more than 12 years. To fill the executive director position, the Transit Authority appointed Jeremi Bumpus. Bumpus had served at PATS as Assistant Director since 2022.

Bumpus said, “I want to thank the Paducah Transit Authority Board of Directors for the opportunity to serve PATS as executive director. Our primary goal is to offer accessible, dependable transportation to both Paducah residents and individuals from surrounding counties. Our efforts are focused on enhancing the mobility of our clients by connecting them with essential services. While reliable transportation is often overlooked, the PATS team and I are committed to delivering a responsive and dependable service.”

At this time, the Paducah Transit Authority has one board member opening. Only Paducah and McCracken County residents are invited to serve. Each member is appointed for a term of four years. The Transit Authority meets on the third Wednesday of the month at 3 p.m. at the PATS office at 850 Harrison Street.

Those interested in serving should complete the application packet by April 1. If you have a question, reach out to Assistant City Clerk Claudia Meeks at 270-444-8507.
