2022 Emancipation Celebration and Parade
Theme and Dates - The theme of the 2022 8th of August Emancipation Celebration is "Year of the Man." Events are scheduled for August 3 through August 8, 2022.
Parade - The annual Emancipation Celebration Parade organized by the W.C. Young Community Center will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022. Parade line-up begins at 9 a.m. The parade, which typically attracts approximately 60 entries, will start at 14th and Broadway and will proceed down Broadway to Walter Jetton Boulevard. The parade will then turn right on Walter Jetton and finish at Robert Coleman Park. Festivities and vendors will be at Robert Coleman Park immediately after the parade and throughout the afternoon and early evening.
